Music in Tune with Education

Classics 4 Kids performances feature the Classics Philharmonic Orchestra – an adult ensemble comprised of professional musicians from San Diego’s Local 325, American Federation of Musicians. The Classics Philharmonic’s unique concerts fuse live orchestra performances with visual media making classical music come to life through the interpretations of dance, drama, art, film, and more.

Dana Zimbric: Champion of Accessible Music Education

Since 2003, Dana Zimbric has been transforming the lives of children across San Diego County through the power of music. A classically trained conductor with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting, Zimbric is on a mission to make classical music relevant, engaging, and accessible for today’s audiences. In a field where women remain vastly underrepresented, Zimbric stands out as a trailblazer. Her leadership breaks barriers and paves the way for the next generation of female conductors.

Zimbric currently serves as Artistic Director and Conductor for both Classics 4 Kids and the California Chamber Orchestra in Temecula, as well as Staff Conductor with Golden State Ballet. She is also a respected coach, judge, and guest conductor, frequently appearing at music festivals and schools throughout Southern California.

A passionate advocate for arts equity, Zimbric believes music is a powerful vehicle for Social-Emotional Learning, particularly for students in underserved communities. Over 70% of the young audiences she serves receive free or discounted concert tickets and transportation, ensuring that cost is never a barrier to participation.

As Zimbric puts it,

Now more than ever, arts education plays a vital role in the lives of our children, teachers, and families. This artistic curriculum inspires creativity, supports learning, and strengthens our community through the power of music.

With deep dedication, Conductor Dana Zimbric continues to inspire San Diego through the power of music, one concert, one classroom, and one child at a time.
