Sharing knowledge about music and the upcoming concert with local elementary school children brings me so much joy! The kids love the music and are like little sponges soaking up the musical lesson! Seeing them again at the concert is an added bonus, saying “Hi Miss Nancy” and waving to me as they go into the theater for the concert.

Are you passionate about music and love working with kids?

Become a volunteer with Classics 4 Kids and make a difference for elementary school students in San Diego County! We are actively recruiting volunteers who are flexible, enthusiastic about music, and eager to get involved. Pick and choose which days you are available.

Choose from these options, or do more than one:

  1. Docent
    • Lead engaging presentations that help students prepare for their concert experience
    • Visit 6-10 classrooms per school year
    • Receive training on concert content, including composers, musical concepts, and proper concert behavior

  2. Usher
    • Welcome, assist and seat students as they arrive and depart from C4K concerts
    • Assist at up to 9 mornings per school year
    • Training occurs on-the-job by a seasoned usher

  3. Advisory Council Member
    • Support the organization by lending expertise and connections to strengthen community impact
    • Assist with special events, including the annual Classics 4 Kids Gala
    • Help build and expand relationships with schools and community partners
    • Serve as ambassadors for the organization’s mission in the broader community
    • Participate in two meetings annually, with the understanding that members may contribute additional time independently to support outreach, planning, or special initiatives

  4. Internships
