Objectives: Classics 4 Kids is looking for a Music Education Program Intern to help support the organization’s educational virtual Meet & Greets, in-school assemblies, docent trainings, theatre concerts and other program related activities. The Program Intern will work under the direction of the Artistic Director and will assist in the areas of workshop set-up/breakdown, backstage concert support, program support (research, media creation), orchestra music library, and more.
Skill Set Required: The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interest in gaining experience in the area of music education for elementary students. Musical background and ability to read music desired. PowerPoint, Word, and Excel experience is helpful. Reliable transportation and solid time management skills desired. All interns for Classics 4 Kids need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and follow organization and school guidance for masking at all times.
Schedule: The intern will assist with in-school workshops, assemblies, theater concerts, docent trainings and other program related events as available. Minimum one morning per week Monday through Friday, though some weeks schedule can be flexible. Some work can be done remotely, while in-person programs and concerts take place at sites around San Diego County and require in-person participation.
About Classics 4 Kids: C4K has been around San Diego for over 25 years and specializes in bringing high quality music and arts exposure to elementary students. Our flagship concerts are held at the historic Balboa Theatre and we offer many programs and experiences online as well as in schools. C4K’s outreach grew during the pandemic – reaching an all-time high of 55,000 students in the 2021 calendar year. As we look to restart our in-person programs in 2022, we are seeking an amazing program intern to help us reach our program goals.
